The co-ed baby shower for Meghan and Mike this Sunday was a great success. Thank you to our hostesses’: Kendal, Jennifer, Carrie, Marlane, and Tara. Sid, your gift was a big hit. Gee, the Texans won, so did the coogs and cowboys. Well, two out of three is alright.

Received letter from Queens Intermediate Boy athletic department:

“I would like to thank you for your generous donation. Your contribution makes it possible for us to purchase equipment and clothing for our student athletes.  These items are essential for the student’s safety, and it also gives them a great sense of pride.

We have our sights set on a very successful year.  As the economy continues to change and our funding is cut, we still keep our focus on fielding all of our teams and teaching these boys how to become young men.  This is only possible because of thoughtful contributions from organizations like you. We hope for your continued support in the future.

Once again thank you for your generous donation,

Ryan M. Butler

Queens Intermediate

Boy’s Athletic Coordinator

Pasadena Independent School District”

Dean IV teaches science and coaches football and basketball at Queens .

We made a donation to the Boys Scouts of America in the memory of Daniel Phillp Hyde.  Daniel was an Engle Scout and Jean’s cousin. The following is info about Daniel:

Daniel Phillip Hyde, 27, found excitement in the small wonders of life. He loved his parents, older brother Joe, grandparents, family, and friends. He loved fishing in Alaska , reading about business, biographies and history, being outdoors, and playing the violin. He had an exceptionally kind heart for children and pets, children loved "Uncle Danny". He will be missed. For more information on Daniel please cut and paste the following link:

Jane introduced Kevin Brown to our club. Kevin is the new “Recreation Specialist” for the City of Bellaire Parks and Recreation Dept. Jane said that he was working the night shift and will be available if and when we needed help. Good luck Kevin. Jane also talked about the TAAF (Texas Amateur Athletic Federation). She said that the TAAF sponsored softball tournaments that our club might be interested in participating. Softball players at meeting said yes they were interested.

Kirk told us about a friend of his (Katie Uren) that is here in Houston at MD Anderson. She needs blood. Please give if you can. I have attached a flyer with all of the information.

The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself-

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
